Addiction Treatment

Published: Sep 8th, 2010 | Author: admin Add Comment

I know for sure that prescription drug abuse is on the rise around the world especially so in the United States.

One of these drugs happens to be hydrocodone and the leaders which contain this drug names are Vicodin, Lorcet, Lortab, and Norco. Addiction to these drugs is beginning to be seen as much as alcoholism.

This is frightening to say the least. Beating any type of drug addiction is hard but beating an opiate addiction is I think even harder.

First thing you will have to do is tell dispose of all your drugs and cut your ties to all your connections this means deleting their phone numbers from your cell phone.

Are Your Kids Abusing Prescription Drugs?

Published: Sep 6th, 2010 | Author: admin Add Comment

Children are especially vulnerable when it comes to drugs. I know it’s hard to think of a child using a syringe to inject heroin into a popped-up vein. Unfortunately, it does happen. The appeal for young people is machismo, wanting to fit in, or just plain experiment. It’s an image that no parent wants to have of their children.

It’s time for a wakeup call.

So what should you do if you find that your child has been taking drugs?

It depends how advanced their drug taking is. And, what kind of drugs are being taken. Drug abuse can cause major changes in body and brain chemistry. So the first priority is to stop them from taking any further drugs and detoxify their bodies from the resulting chemicals and related toxins.

Great care needs to be taken when choosing a detox centre for children who need Drug Detox.

Imagine a 12-year-old sitting in a back alley way pumping themselves full of drugs with a used syringe. Not a nice thought is it. But there is an alarming rise in the number of children taking one kind of drug. Prescription drugs can be found in homes across the country. And pills are finding their way onto the school playground. In fact, the problem is so bad that many Drug Detox centers are opening facilities especially for children.

How Can I Heal My Lungs If I Smoked for a Long Time

Can I Heal My Lungs If I Continue to Smoke Cigarettes

Are you suffering with a smoker’s cough that won’t go away? Have you been smoking cigarettes for five, ten, or 20 years and find it difficult or impossible to kick the habit? Do you have difficulty in taking a deep breath? If you answered yes to one or more of the questions above, these are all symptoms that your lungs have been damaged by smoking and need to be cleaned out. If so, you may be wondering, ‘Can I heal my lungs?’ Fortunately, the short answer to this question is, yes. In this article you will discover how to heal your lungs simply and painlessly, in the comfort of your home, no matter how long you’ve been a smoker.

But first, a little background. Human lungs are terribly fragile organs. And if you have been a cigarette smoker for a period of years, you do damage to your lungs every day. One of the most dangerous substances in cigarettes is tar. With each cigarette you smoke, you inhale tar into your lungs. If you have a nagging smoker’s cough, you have smoking damaged lungs. If that is the case, you have to clean this nasty chemical out your lungs.

The interior of lungs are covered with really fragile thin strands that clean your lungs, called cilia. Over a period of years, tar begins to build up and damages the cilia. In a smoker’s lungs, there are significantly less healthy cilia to do the job of keeping your lungs clean. As a consequence, the surviving cilia cannot clean out your lungs efficiently. When this occurs, your fragile air passages become clogged and you start coughing.

Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley – Creating a Real-World "Thriller Night"

Published: Sep 5th, 2010 | Author: admin Add Comment

As a writer and also a sort of addiction-ologist I cannot help but observe and reflect on the division of our nation as it pertains to Michael Jackson. The overarching question seems to be should we revere him or should we condemn him? Was he a Semi-God, or a monster? And the whole climate of confusion, as well as the depth of mourning, harks me back to the age of 9 and the death of Elvis Presley. I can remember foggily asking in those sad days…How could this be?

And I can see that it is a question we are all asking again.

And if you expanded this question it might sound something like this… “How could someone so talented, so gifted, so powerfully able to touch human beings have come to this?” And the very way that we were touched by Elvis Presley and later by Michael Jackson seems to indicate a depth of humanity in both that is starkly contradicted by their behavior.

So how do we reconcile this seeming contradiction? We look here and we look there. We split up and take sides. Demi-God-ers face off with Monster-ites. We argue amongst ourselves. Those who want to deny and forget the monstrosities condemn those who want to deny and forget the greatness of The King of Pop. And the same also happens in reverse.

As a certified personal trainer & gym owner, I am very much concerned about the effects of steroids in our youth, especially high school athletes. I know what the negative effects of taking steroids are, not only physically but mentally and socially as well.
Steroids are the performance-enhancing substances that have caused more losses than wins in the life of High School athletes. “We have a serious steroids problem among our country’s youth.” Stated California state senator Jackie Speier, a Democrat from the Bay Area
Different reasons were raised why many adolescents use or abuse steroids.
1. To improve their athletic performance. Many athletes saw recourse to use performance enhancer substances because the pressure to win is enormous.
2. To increase their muscle size or to reduce their body fat. This group is suffering from the behavioral syndrome called muscle dysmorphia, people who think they have distorted figure. It is so alarming because according to a study, 9-to-11-year-old females use steroids to enhance their build too.
3. Part of a pattern of high-risk behaviors. Like the thrill that they get from drinking and driving, driving a motorcycle without a helmet, carrying a gun, and abusing other illicit drugs, taking steroids give that adrenaline they can’t explain.

Heroin Identification For Parents

Published: Aug 26th, 2010 | Author: admin Add Comment

Heroin is an opiate derived from the opium poppy. Opiates have long been used in pain relief and heroin is in the same category. In the UK, a cocktail is made from heroin and alcohol and given to terminally ill cancer patients to relieve them of pain.

Heroin use has been popular with teenagers since about the sixties and reached alarming proportions in the US in the nineties. It is still used by teenagers and adolescents though it is becoming increasingly difficult to procure.

Heroin is rapid-acting, and one of the fastest drugs to become addictive. Most users start by snorting or smoking, secure in a misguided belief that in so doing the drug is not addictive. But this is not the case, and once the body becomes addicted they graduate to injecting themselves. Users typically relate experiencing a surge of pleasurable sensation, a “rush”, the intensity of which depends on the quantity taken and the speed at which it reaches the brain. With regular use intolerance sets in which requires greater or more frequent doses to satisfy the addiction.

Here are some of the symptoms that can warn parents of drug abuse:

A Great Comeback After Drug Treatment Program

Published: Aug 25th, 2010 | Author: admin Add Comment

Drug addiction may be considered as a disease by a lot of people. Changes in the brain structure have caused effects to the body and mentality of a person which may have caused him to compulsively crave drugs and the euphoria it brings. On a short term basis, it gives a temporary escape from the harsh realism. For a while, there is a break away from the cruelty and callousness of the world.

However in the long run, the temporary escape leads to hallucinations which do not only affect the drug user but pose danger to the people around him as well. What he needs is help, a drug treatment program that will bring him back to reality.

The addiction begins when a person stops using his own moral fiber to overcome stress, pressures and problems. Instead, he turns to dangerous substances believing that these can help him defeat struggles. He makes a fool of himself considering that these chemicals give him strength, because as a truth of the matter, they certainly do not. He perceives that drugs are the answer to his problems, which is contrary to the truth that drugs are now his problem. (more…)
